Four Doors Book Awards is devoted to recognizing excellence in indie writing. We judge the power of the written word, not your marketing campaign, and not how we can profiteer off of you by offering you additional promotional services. In fact, to help us maintain the integrity of the award, beyond the nomination process and the merit that comes with the event, we sell no marketing services whatsoever. We will not charge you to announce if you’ve won when we publicize the winners. We simply award. It is about your work.
For each category, our judges will select 4-6 finalists. At this point, two types of judging will take place. First, our judges will look over all of the finalists and choose one grand prize winner, one second prize winner and one third prize winner for the judges’ choice awards. Meanwhile, each category winner will be selected by the nominated authors themselves. Aach author who has a registered nomination will then be allowed to vote once for each category that they are registered themselves, regardless of how many books you have registered in each category. For instance, if you have two books nominated in one category and another book in second category, you get two votes (one vote in each of the categories that you have a book nominated). Yes, it is possible for an author to win the judge’s grand prize without winning a category award. In addition, one book will be chosen for editor’s choice award along with two editor’s honorable mention awards. You may have more than one book selected as a winner. You may have more than one book selected as a finalist in a single category. Books are judged on merit, not how many times they’ve won. Books found to have any part of their written word AI generated, undermine the validity of this event, and their authors will be disqualified from the event (without refund). They will also be banned from any future nominations.
Winners and finalists each receive a medal; A digital award emblem; an interview; and a judges’ review of their book. In addition to these, the grand prize winner receives $500; Second place receives $250; Third place receives $100. All three are invited to have a judging seat in 2025 awards. Editor’s choice awards will be announced upon award.
Four Doors Book Awards. You may nominate yourself or another author if you are an indie publisher, a self-published author, a first-time or experienced published independent author, an e-book author, an author published by a university press. The award is open to authors based in the U.S., Canada, or internationally. It is open to books and manuscripts published in English and released in 2023, 2024, or 2025 open to all indie publishers including independent publishers (small, medium or otherwise), university presses, self-published authors, e-book authors, experienced independent authors and even first time authors based in the U.S., Canada or internationally who have a book, a manuscript, or a galley proof written in English and released in 2023, 2024 or 2025 or with a 2023, 2024 or 2025 copyright date.
